The Copley Kids Program was founded in August of 1994. The Program is hosted
by Copley Parish, The Church of the Resurrection on
The Copley Kids Program is comprised of two segments: The Odd Jobs Program and The Scholastic Program.
The Odd Jobs Program teaches youth the basics of good work ethics, encourages positive social interaction among youth, and teaches them to interact positively with adults. This is done through the soliciting and performing of various types of odd jobs (mowing grass, raking leaves, painting fences, removing tree stumps, shoveling snow, cleaning garages, etc.) to our clients' complete satisfaction. In 1997 the Copley Kids performed 103 odd jobs, with no injuries, and a 100% satisfaction rate. The kids receive minimum wage, with social security and other applicable taxes paid by the program.
The Scholastic Program was added in 1995. We meet three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 3:00 to 6 PM. We provide homework assistance, some tutoring, and social interaction for youth in elementary, middle and high schools. Each student receives a $1.00 stipend for each successful study session attended, paid weekly, in addition to daily snacks. A half - hour of social time is allotted each day at the end of study time. Volunteers and/or staff are also available to spend time on a one to one basis with participants as needed.
Our program offers the use of a network of Pentium computers with laser and Color inkjet printers and a color scanner.
